Removing Barriers!

Picture
Removing Barriers...wow what a powerful sermon delivered by our visiting Bishop  at PHC Mbare, this Sunday November 19 th , 2017. In this day and era when  the Spirit of God is moving so powerfully there are many factors that stop many from being who God created them to be. The biggest barrier unfortunately is religion. Many have become so religious at the expense of having a relationship with God, the creator. Many have appointed themselves the judges, jurists and executioners of others based on religious views without regard to what really is religion.
In christianity, this has become a stumbling block for many to truly connect with and be used by God to bring about the fruits of their faith. There are more religious sons and daughters than children of God. Son of so and so, daughter of so and so and the rest are orphans? He implored the congregation to repent and be truly saved. What is important is not which church you go to but your true salvation and relationship with God.

Be strong in the Lord , he said and do according to his word. If you know what is right and not do it, then that is a sin. Are you any better than the next person that you are judging? Perhaps this is why we are warned against judging others as we will be judged harshly. Many want to appear holier, better than and entitled and yet the other side of the coin is true when others look at you. So while you are busy judging, criticizing and bringing others down, guess what ? The same will happen to you. You reap what you sow. So what is the best advice? Love one another, love the other as you love yourself. Treat the next person the same way you would like to be treated.

Many of us are called to serve God in many different capacities. The work of God is not a preserve of a few " anointed" persons but for us all. We have different purposes in the greater vision of a better world. Some are Apostles, prophets , teachers, pastors and others are healers ( yes healers because God uses them to bring healing to the people) and yet others are administrators and helpers. All these are ministrations by the same spirit. What stops us from following our path is the fear of what other people will say. Who is more important in this scheme , God or other people? Instead of being afraid of what people will say, be very very afraid of what God will say if you do not obey his voice.

Be strong in the Lord , our Bishop continued with this enlightening message. Do not depend on people as people will let you down. But depend on God who created you and is the author and finisher of your faith. So for whatever you do, do not depend on people's praises or rewards . Blessings are not in people  but in God. Do not grow weary of doing good just because others are not doing anything , instead increase in doing good .

So how can we accomplish these seemingly difficult tasks? We must die to self, i.e give up pride, open your heart, be vulnerable, love everyone and your enemies too.Bless them , pray for them and give them another cheek when they criticise you and persecute you for wanting to be close to God and do the right thing. Make sure you are saved and have a relationship with God. He will surely reward you. Man will desert you when the next craze comes into town!

What an uplifting message..
